ERP Germany increases collection of waste batteries

June 17th, 2019

An important innovation comes from Germany. In 2018, the State has increased of 1.6 percent on the previous year its collection of waste portable batteries, collecting a total of 5,140 tonnes (1,820 tons more) with ERP system.

According to the German Battery Law, at least 45 percent of the batteries put on the market must be collected and treated. A target that ERP Germany has exceeded once again by reaching 47.9 percent.

The campaign was a success: over 6,300 collection boxes have been delivered to mainly voluntary collection points, with over 19,500 kg of waste portable batteries collected for recycling.

ERP is also working hard to increase the collection of waste portable batteries. Click here to find out more on batteries recycling process.
